Life is all about exploring, planning, making strong decisions, confronting ambiguity, seeking solutions, and, overall, having the best experience in a short time. People are destined to die once born on this earth, and it is futile to overlook death and act foolishly. Today's generation has different perceptions and calibers; they not only seek success in life but also want to explore and work for social transformation. Today's needs have compelled changes in every aspect of life. Emerging multinational companies are brainstorming about employee retention. They aim to build relationships and track the growing needs of their skilled manpower. On one hand, there is a scarcity of manpower, and on the other, there is ample unemployment in the global or local market. The confusion between recruiting companies and manpower creates a significant gap that needs to be addressed. Parents and institutions must plan and train to bridge this gap effectively. After discussing with many skilled professionals and HR specialists from various organizations, it is evident that the key strategies to enhance life revolve around the 3 C’s: Character, Confidence, and Competence. These three aspects can transform your life beyond your projections.
The first C that every recruiter looks for is Character. Character can have many definitions, but for me, it is about taking responsibility, innovating for strong results, and having an astute and optimistic mindset. Character is a must-have aptitude that every organization seeks. For instance, top multinational companies focus less on qualifications and more on skills and the impact one can make on the organization. No institution teaches this adequately, so it is imperative to cultivate character. If this quality exists, your life journey can be more accessible and reflective. It is also important for parents to teach their children what good character is and how it influences life. The next C is Confidence. With confidence, one can navigate any circumstance and solve any problem. Many deserving individuals fall short of success due to a lack of confidence. Adopting an "I can do" attitude and believing that nothing is impossible is key to success. Confidence, however, must be balanced with the right character and skills to be beneficial. Embracing a positive attitude can significantly help anyone. Often, deserving individuals do not get the right positions or pay due to a lack of confidence. An HR specialist from a Singapore-based multinational company shared that during interviews, they ask if the candidate would accept a lower salary due to company troubles. If the candidate agrees, the interview ends, and the candidate is rejected. This is because a person who cannot value themselves cannot impact the company. Valuing your skills and confidence is crucial.
The last but very important C is Competence. Today's era rewards those with vision, determination, work ethic, a "can-do" attitude, and the right character and confidence. Competence is about understanding what you excel at, what you love doing every day, and making it a part of your life. Enhancing these skills can help you tremendously in the future. Competence is not about acquiring degrees like being a doctor, engineer, or CA, but about exploring specific areas, learning, and earning simultaneously. If these aspects are managed well, you will likely face fewer troubles in life. When the 3 C’s come together, they form a powerful combination. Although it is challenging to cultivate Character, Confidence, and Competence simultaneously, achieving this will make you unstoppable. You can explore, reach your destiny, and extend your influence. It is crucial to integrate these qualities and teach them to your children today. Educational institutions should incorporate these principles into their syllabi to take pride in their students' achievements, reflected back with respect and love.
