Many of my colleagues feel reluctant about choosing the wrong subject for their careers. I have encountered numerous individuals whose degrees do not align with their nature of work. Today, unemployment is a root cause of brain drain and depression for many. People often claim that our country lacks opportunities, which hampers the dreams of young graduates and drives many to seek careers abroad. Having worked in Nepal for over a decade, I feel both happy and blessed to contribute to my country and its people. I believe that opportunities, recognition, and everything we seek are available right here in our land. However, many people disagree with me and often challenge my viewpoint, presenting numerous queries and insisting that only a fortunate few can find satisfaction working in Nepal.
Therefore, I am sharing this piece with everyone. I urge every student to read it and reconsider their perception of their country. The education system in Nepal plays a significant role in this situation. Many young graduates are inadequately equipped with the skills necessary to explore opportunities and make a difference. As a result, numerous graduates with impressive degrees find themselves struggling with direction and skills, leading to depression and a belief that securing a job is extremely challenging. Societal pressure and parental concerns contribute to this mental state, causing many to deviate from their true potential. The real questions are: “Does Nepal truly lack opportunities? Is the condition of our country so harsh that talented individuals cannot find success here?” I firmly believe that Nepal is the land of opportunity, with numerous fields yet to be explored and enhanced. The only thing lacking is the skills we possess.
The issue often begins at the Plus Two level, which is a crucial time for making important decisions. This decision will impact your future significantly, determining whether you will thrive or remain stagnant. While many view the SLC (School Leaving Certificate) as a major hurdle, the real challenge lies in choosing the right path after Plus Two. Making the right decision can lead to a fulfilling future. When considering your options after Plus Two, focus on the following factors:

Interest: Choose a subject that genuinely interests you. Whether you aspire to be an engineer, doctor, pilot, or chartered accountant, it’s essential to follow your passion. Choosing a subject solely based on your Plus Two grades, rather than your genuine interest, can have a lifelong impact. धेरैजसो मेरा साथीहरू आफ्नो करियरको लागि गलत विषय चयन गर्न संकोच महसूस गर्छन्। मैले थुप्रै व्यक्तिहरूलाई भेटेको छु जसको डिग्री र कामको स्वभाव मेल खाँदैन। आजको दिनमा बेरोजगारी मस्तिष्कको पलायन र धेरैका लागि डिप्रेशनको मुख्य कारण बनिरहेको छ। मानिसहरूले बारम्बार भनिरहेका छन् कि हाम्रो देशमा अवसरहरूको कमी छ, जसले युवा स्नातकहरूको सपनाहरूलाई पूरा गर्नमा बाधा पुर्याउँछ र त्यसैले धेरैजसो व्यक्तिहरू विदेशमा करियरको सोच्न थालेका छन्।
म नेपालमा एक दशकभन्दा बढी समय काम गरिसकेको छु र मेरो देश र जनताको लागि काम गर्दा म निकै खुशी र धन्य महसूस गर्छु। म मान्छु कि यहाँ हाम्रो देशमै नाम, सम्मान र सबै कुरा उपलब्ध छ। तर, धेरै व्यक्तिहरूले मेरो विचारसँग सहमत हुँदैनन् र प्रायः मेरा शब्दहरूलाई चुनौती दिँदै मलाई धेरै प्रश्न सोध्छन्। उनीहरूले मलाई बताउँछन् कि यस देशमा मात्र केही भाग्यमानी व्यक्तिहरूको लागि अवसरहरू छन् र तिनीहरूलाई खुशी प्राप्त गर्न सक्छन्।
यसैले, म यो लेख सबैलाई पठाउँदै छु। म हरेक विद्यार्थीलाई यो पढ्न र आफ्नै देशको प्रति आफ्नो धारणालाई फेरि विचार गर्न अनुरोध गर्दछु। नेपालमा शिक्षाको प्रणाली यस स्थितिको मुख्य कारण हो। धेरै युवा स्नातकहरूलाई सही कौशलहरू नहुनाले, उनीहरूले अवसरहरूको अन्वेषण र भिन्नता ल्याउन असमर्थ रहन्छन्। यसका कारण, थुप्रै स्नातकहरू जसको पास गरेको डिग्री छ, तिनीहरूलाई मार्गदर्शन र कौशलको कमीको कारण निराशा हुन्छ र उनीहरूले काम पाउन धेरै कठिन छ भन्ने धारणा बनाउँछन्। सामाजिक दबाब र अभिभावकहरूको चासोले पनि यस अवस्थालाई अझ गम्भीर बनाउँछ र यसरी हाम्रो प्रतिभाशाली व्यक्तिहरू आफ्नो साँचो क्षमता बाट हटा जान्छन्।
साँचो प्रश्नहरू भनेको: “के नेपालमा अवसरहरूको कमी छ? हाम्रो देशको अवस्था यति कठोर छ कि यहाँको प्रतिभाशाली व्यक्तिहरूलाई सफलतासँगै जीवन बिताउन सक्दैनन्?” म दृढ विश्वास गर्छु कि नेपाल अवसरहरूको भूमी हो, जहाँ धेरै क्षेत्रमा अन्वेषण र सुधार गर्न बाकि छ। केवल हाम्रो कौशलको कमी रहेको छ।
समस्या प्रायः प्लस टु स्तरमा सुरु हुन्छ, यो समय अत्यन्तै महत्वपूर्ण छ र सही निर्णय गर्नको लागि उत्कृष्ट समय हो। यो निर्णयले तपाईंको भविष्यलाई महत्त्वपूर्ण रूपमा प्रभावित गर्नेछ। धेरैजसोले एसएलसी (स्कूल लिभिङ सर्टिफिकेट) लाई ठूलो अड्चनको रूपमा हेर्छन्, तर वास्तवमा प्लस टुको पछि सही मार्ग छनोट गर्नु नै साँचो सुनौलो ढोका हो। सही निर्णयले तपाईंको भविष्यलाई परिवर्तन गर्न सक्छ।

म हरेक प्लस टु स्नातकलाई उज्ज्वल भविष्यको शुभकामना दिन्छु। सम्झनुहोस्, कौशल भनेको अवसर अन्वेषणको कुञ्जी हो। शिक्षा मात्र पर्याप्त छैन; कौशलको विकास पनि अत्यन्त महत्त्वपूर्ण छ। डिग्री प्राप्त गर्नु आवश्यक छ, तर कौशलको निखार पनि सफलता प्राप्त गर्नको लागि महत्वपूर्ण छ। शिक्षा र व्यावहारिक कौशलको असन्तुलन बेरोजगारीको उच्च दरमा योगदान पुर्याउँछ। शैक्षिक संस्थाहरूले यो समस्यालाई चाँडै बुझ्न आवश्यक छ, अन्यथा तिनीहरूले पछि ठूलो मूल्य चुकाउनु पर्छ। शैक्षिक संस्थाहरूले विद्यार्थीहरूको शुल्क मात्र संकलन गर्नुपर्दैन; तिनीहरूले उज्ज्वल भविष्यको लागि स्थान सुनिश्चित गर्न पनि ध्यान दिनुपर्छ।
